Easing into summer with a fresh cup: Cause Lab

An in-house roastery and brew bar on Lövőház utca, serving hand brew coffee from carefully sourced beans, with attention to every single cup.

Lövőház utca has long been one of Buda’s main gastronomic streets: cafés, bars and restaurants run almost without a break along its length. But finding a place where you go for the coffee itself — not just the caffeine — is still harder than it sounds.

Cause Lab is exactly that kind of place. Nothing here is in a hurry, and there are no flashy signs trying to impress you. Instead: in-house roasting, carefully selected beans, and an attention to detail that comes through in the very first sip. At the heart of the menu is hand brew — coffee made by hand through a filter. For the Cause Lab team, this isn’t just an alternative brewing method; it’s a way to let the character of the bean speak for itself. Coffee like this makes you want to linger — and there are plenty of seats inside and out to do exactly that.

If you prefer espresso or a cappuccino, the approach is just as serious: different beans get different extraction profiles, dialled in to bring out the best in each cup.

You can also pick up bags of their own-roast beans to take home, and grab something from the SALT bakery team while you’re there.
